With the recent release of Remote Desktop Gateway Connection for Windows, students are now able to connect to UCCS open lab computers (in conjunction with OIT Desktop Finder), and faculty and staff can connect to their office computers without having to connect to VPN first. This new service helps simplify the process for the UCCS community to work as through they are on campus.

Beginning Friday, September 25, the Office of Information Technology will255-HELP transition to a single phone number, 255-HELP (4357) for academic support and help desk calls. The OIT team is working on updating signage and speed dials in OIT supported classrooms.

The new phone number (255-HELP) and is meant to be a single point of contact for OIT, allowing a better customer experience for the entire campus.

On Wednesday, September 16th, Apple introduced a new feature to the wireless network WiFisettings on Apple devices (iOS, iPad, and watch) allowing the device to create a "private address". This new network setting essentially changes the way the device identifies itself to the network. Unfortunately, this new feature is not compatible with the wireless networks at UCCS. To prevent connection issues for UCCS wireless networks, it is recommended that Apple users who upgrade to iOS 14, iPadOS 14 or watchOS 7 disable this feature for UCCS networks. Instructions to disable this new feature can be found on Apple Support as well as below. The private address setting may be used for other wireless networks such as coffee shops or a home network but has been causing connection issues for UCCS wireless.

To disable this feature on the iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the information button to the right of each UCCS wireless network (UCCS-Wireless, UCCS-Guest, and/or eduroam).
  3. Tap the toggle button for “private address” to disable the feature.
    1. Note this feature is set individually for each wireless network profile on your device. This feature can be left enabled for other wireless networks (such as your home, a coffee shop, etc.) should you choose to do so.

To disable this feature on the watch

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the name of the network you joined. If you haven't joined the network yet, swipe left on its name and tap more .
  3. Tap Private Address to toggle it off

Once the upgrade has been complete, and the above instructions have been followed, the OIT Help Desk may be contacted for additional UCCS wireless network support.
