INCLINE Node Purchase
INCLINE Node Purchase Policy
INCLINE is a heterogeneous high performance computing (HPC) cluster available for faculty, researchers, students, and affiliates at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
UCCS Faculty may choose to purchase additional INCLINE nodes for their own use, in exchange for special privileges on INCLINE. These include:
- A special allocation with unlimited time on up to N nodes, where N = number of nodes that they have purchased.
- A special ultra-high-priority queue for node owners.
- Rack space for the nodes, including redundant power and cooling, provided by OIT as part of general INCLINE support.
- General hardware support, including node replacement upon failure, provided through OIT and Dell.
- General software and sysadmin support, provided through EAS-IT.
Node Type | Technical Specifications | Cost | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Compute | Dell PowerEdge R6525 Chassis and Motherboard | $16,148.66 | This is a general-purpose CPU node capable of running up to 256 MPI tasks. This is the recommended node type for most non-GPU HPC applications. |
High Memory | Dell PowerEdge R6525 Chassis and Motherboard | $30,869.57 | This is a CPU node that is identical to the compute node except with approximately 10x RAM. Nodes of this type are intended for applications that are extremely memory intensive; this can include machine learning, processing of large datasets, or large-scale scientific visualization. |
GPU | Dell PowerEdge R7525 Chassis and Motherboard | $45,590.47 | This node includes two state-of-the-art NVIDIA A100 GPU cards. Nodes of this type should only be purchased for applications that specifically utilize GPUs. |
Login | Dell PowerEdge R7151 Chassis and Motherboard | $9,011.12 | This node is not designed for computation. Nodes of this type are designed for compiling code and managing the transfer of data. These nodes are available for purchase and can be used exclusively by the purchaser. However, purchase of login nodes does not include access to high priority queues with limitless allocations. |
Data Transfer | Dell PowerEdge R6515 Chassis and Motherboard | $6,579.06 | This node is not designed for computation. This node has a high throughput ethernet connection allowing for transfer of large data sets. These nodes are available for purchase and are ideal for users who regularly transfer large amounts of data to/from INCLINE. They will be made available for exclusive use by the purchaser, but (as with login nodes) do not include access to high priority queues with limitless allocations. |
Node purchasing is currently available for UCCS faculty members only. To submit a purchase request, please contact Professor Brandon Runnels at brunnels@uccs.edu.
