Linkedin Learning MarketingMany may know that Linkedin is a business and employment-oriented social media platform. However, to UCCS it’s a whole lot more - it connects us to potential colleagues and partnerships. It’s a place where students connect with employers, their instructors, and the university.  And it’s a place where you can get training on thousands of topics through Linkedin Learning.

CU has a partnership with Linkedin, that includes Linkedin Learning:

  • Designed for all levels of learners and new courses are added weekly
  • Learning paths can guide your development with the aim of mastering skills that align with your career goals
  • Create and share collections with fellow classmates, coworkers, and employees
  • Connect your personal LinkedIn profile for personalized course recommendations

To access Linkedin, go to https://linkedin.com. If you would like to connect back to our department – check it out here: https://www.linkedin.com/company/uccsoit/.

CanvasStarting in Spring 2021, students on the waitlist for a course will be provisionally enrolled in the corresponding Canvas course. Students should check their official enrollment status in the myUCCS Portal, as Canvas does not provide this information. In the event the official status changes from Waitlisted to Enrolled in the portal, students retain access to the course for the duration of the semester. When waitlists are deleted, students with a status of Waitlisted will be removed from the corresponding Canvas course(s).

  • Waitlisted students will have access to all course materials and assignments
  • Students should monitor enrollment status in myUCCS portal (Waitlisted or Enrolled)
  • Waitlists are deleted on January 26, 2021 (dates vary each semester per the Academic Calendar.)
  • Students with an official status of Enrolled in the myUCCS portal are not affected
  • Prior to this change, waitlisted students were not enrolled in Canvas courses

For questions regarding this change, please contact the OIT Help Desk. For questions regarding class information, please contact the Registrar's Office.

Classroom UpdatesStarting December 2020, sixty-seven classrooms across campus will be upgraded to better support HyFlex and remote modalities. The upgrades will be complete in time for the start of the spring semester and will highlight the following:

  • A whole room microphone
    • This microphone will be installed in the ceiling to pick up audio from all over the room so that students who are attending classes remotely can hear them
  • A high definition video camera
    • The camera will provide video of the entire classroom, from the back of the classroom, so that the remote students can see the class and the instructor

No additional software will be needed by faculty to use these rooms. A USB port on the podium computer or an instructor's laptop is all that is required to use this new equipment.
