Position Coming Soon...Media Manager

We would like to sincerely thank you for taking part of our very first ever Mountain Lion Tech Day! It would not have been a success without you!

As a recap,

Our Hackathon winner is Frank Carber with his idea to create a program that will suggest a list of clubs for students to join based on their academic interests, time commitment, and personality. It will also give faculty/staff members to get involved as mentors or participants with this tailored club search. Frank Carber is in the process of receiving $1000 in scholarship from OIT! Congratulations Frank!

Below is his initial proposal:

"My idea is to create a program that reduces the difficulty of finding clubs on campus and increases student engagement on campus. The plan is to create a website and program that matches students with clubs based on their academic interests, time commitment, and personality. Students will answer a shortlist of questions and be paired with clubs that match their desired criteria.

Every year students are inundated with fliers and emails and social media posts trying to grab their attention in the hopes of gaining their membership to a club. It can be hard for students to sort through the seemingly endless amount of opportunities available on campus. Even the most engaged students partake in a process of trial and error when seeking out club attendance. My hack aims to alleviate some of that stress. Not only will the program make it easier for students to find clubs tailored to their needs and interests, but it will make it easier for more students to get engaged. A major benefit of this system is that it has a tremendous capacity for growth. With the right resources, this program could easily pair faculty with relevant committees and opportunities on campus that they might otherwise miss. It could pair students with relevant on-campus research opportunities. And pair UCCS staff with relevant projects on campus."

We were able to gift 7 attendees of gift cards, a backpack, and an Acer Tablet, thanks to our vendors!
