Zoom is coming to UCCS in time for the Spring 2021 semester. This is a four-campus collaboration effort with each campus' needsZoom being taken into consideration. Here is what we know so far:

  • What will happen to WebEx?
    • There is still a little over two years on our WebEx contract. While WebEx will still be a service, it is recommended that Zoom is used for communication and Teams is used for collaboration. Zoom will be the preferred method of teaching and learning.
  • Can Zoom be used for telehealth?
    • WebEx and MS Teams will still be the preferred methods for telehealth conferencing.
  • Who will get a license?
    • A license will be provided to all UCCS Faculty, Staff, and Students.
  • Can I get a license now?
    • Unfortunately, no. This is a four-campus effort and at this time, the licenses have not been assigned. Should we need testers for Zoom, we will be reaching out to our Beta Testers for volunteers. You may join this group for any upcoming opportunities.
  • How much storage will I have for my recordings?
    • All four campuses will be sharing storage. There will be an option for local recording and uploading to your OneDrive or Panopto.
  • What type of accounts will be available to us?
    • An enterprise license will be available to everyone.
  • When is it coming?
    • Zoom will be available to UCCS for the Spring semester.

With the recent initiative to further remote work efforts, a few changes have been made to ensure OIT employee safety. Remote Work

  • Computer Labs
    • Effective November 30, 2020, both COH and UHAL computer labs are closed until further notice.
    • In order to increase capacity, the Kraemer Family Library has opened a new computer lab (EPC 239). This lab is staffed with its own academic support staff to assist customers.
  • Help Desk
    • The Help Desk will be remote effective December 4, 2020, until further notice. However, since the El Pomar Center is not closed, the Help Desk will utilize the locker system on the first floor of El Pomar on an as-needed basis for work orders.
    • Help Desk will continue to image computers with the help of a network KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse Switch).
    • Computer builds are currently taking a week to complete. As the new semester approaches, this timeline may be longer until the new imaging system is in place next semester.
