On August 1, 2019, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) launched a 24x7 Help Desk, in partnership with BlackBeltHelp. BlackBeltHelp will provide after-hours (6 p.m. – 8 a.m.), holiday, university closure, and weekend Help Desk support. This third-party service will be an extension of the Office of Information Technology Help Desk. IT is excited to offer this service and hope that Faculty, Staff, and Students, regardless of location and time of day, will now be able to get the assistance they need and at their convenience. BlackBeltHelp will function as an extension of the OIT Help Desk and be available via phone (719-255-3536) and chat. Any issue that BlackBeltHelp cannot resolve will be forwarded on to the OIT Help Desk team, who will work with the customer on the next business day to find a resolution. Feedback about this and any other service OIT offers can be provided at uccs.io/oitfeedback
Please note: BlackBeltHelp does require that students and employees know their ID number for assistance. Should you not know your ID, Admissions and Records can provide that information to you during regular business operating hours.

New Additions to the Team
The Web Services team has hired two new web designers. Ryan and Mike both started on August 1st. They will hit the ground running helping facilitate with the redesign of our web page to the new theme, and our migration to an entirely cloud-hosted version of our website. We are excited to have them be apart of our team.
Data Governance
OIT has begun the process of developing a Data Governance model. This initiative is being spearheaded by our new Business Intelligence Manager Krista Duffy. This new model will help OIT and campus receive, utilize, maintain, and secure our data to better serve our systems. In the coming months, she will be working with stakeholders to develop policy and processes.
MCP and Azure Rights Management
The Messaging, Collaboration, and Productivity (MCP) team are currently working on a new initiative to better secure information as people change their roles within UCCS. OIT is launching a pilot program to investigate the use of Azure Rights Management to better secure information and limit access to information based on your particular role. Throughout the upcoming months, MCP will be closely examining roles with access to sensitive information for testing. More news to come!
